March 22nd is World Water Day and truth be told not many know about it.
To create a change we must be part of the movement and I personally think that as teachers we have the possibility to make great difference. Thus so one class was dedicated to create consciousness within students and promote saving water on daily basis.
1- Watch a Video
We started the class with a video that talked about the importance and how to save water. Now depending on the students age choose the video to play. If you have a book about this topic it would be even better. Here are some great book titles:
2- Brainstorm
Now after every video I usually discuss with them keypoints for showing them the video.
This time we talked about:
Why is water important?
What is the percentage of water that humans can consume?
Where is it located?
What can they do from home to help save water?
3- Build the Crown
Then we moved on to the printable, first we talked about what we saw. How you work on the printable is up to your teaching style.
You can do the following:
Guided- students work at the same pace and on the same step
Independent- Give instructions, demonstrate and the students work on their own.
